The Victims Unit delivers community grants to victims of displacement in Norte de Santander
Within the framework of the Special Community Support Schemes, the Victims Unit seeks that the communities advance in overcoming the situation of vulnerability, and strengthen community integration and territorial roots
Provision of furniture for school restaurants, educational venues, community rooms and outdoor furniture, delivered the Victims Unit to six towns located in the rural area of the municipalities of El Carmen, San Calixto and Ocaña in Norte de Santander.
The territorial director of the entity, Alicia María Rojas Pérez, explained that the delivery of items will benefit families in condition of returnees and relocated from the rural areas of Zaragoza and Potrero Grande (municipality of El Carmen), La Marina and Quebrada Azul (San Calixto), and La Unión (Ocaña).
“We have delivered hundreds of items such as desks, fans, chairs, tables, desks, filing cabinets, industrial kitchens, among other furnishings that will allow the community halls, educational venues and school restaurants in these towns to be conditioned to transform local settings into places that promote coexistence and reconciliation as a mechanism for forgiveness, amid the consequences left by the violence for these families affected by displacement”, said Rojas Pérez.
The official indicated that the endowment is delivered within the framework of the return and relocation processes implemented by the Victims Unit. “We seek that the communities affected by the armed conflict in this eastern area of the country advance in overcoming the situation of vulnerability, community integration and territorial roots, as a guarantee for their permanence in the territory in which they have decided to remain indefinitely”.
For her part, the mayor of San Calixto, Betsaida Montejo, recognized and highlighted the entity's work to strengthen the comprehensive reparation route of these communities that today are committed to peace in one of the PDET municipalities (Development Plans with Approach Territorial). "Special thanks to the Victims Unit for this delivery that we are taking to our municipality of San Calixto", said the local president.
The delivery was made in the municipality of Ocaña in compliance with biosafety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
