Displaced and relocated families in Río Viejo (Bolívar) receive provision of educational furniture

This investment of close to 100 million pesos includes elements such as chairs, desks, boards, children's tables and filing cabinets, among others.

The educational institutions of Caimital, Cobadillo, Macedonia, Brisas de San Martín and Campo Alegre rural districts of Rio Viejo municipality (Bolívar), were benefited by the Unit for Victims with the Special Schemes of Community Support (EEAC) in the route of returns and relocations, through the delivery of endowments to improve the educational environment.

The delivery ceremony was attended by the municipal Secretary of Education, the social manager, members of the Municipal Committee of Victims, members of the communities, the rector of said educational centers and by officials of the Victims Unit.

The deliveries, whose investment is close to 100 million pesos, consist of complete furniture for school use that contributes to the proper functioning of these educational spaces.

According to Amparo Chicué Cristancho, Magdalena Medio territorial director of the Victims' Unit, "among the items delivered are chairs, desks, desks, boards, children's tables, furniture to strengthen the school environment, as a measure to guarantee decent living conditions , in this case the right to quality education for young people, boys and girls of the community in general, with the purpose of creating roots in the territory they inhabit and to prevent these children from have been used in illegal activities".

The delivery day of these elements was also used to carry out a dialogue or community approach in order to make adjustments to the actions of the 2019 return and relocation plan. “For example, the improvement of the roads had been agreed, now we meet to identify which were those roads and those sections that needed improvement to give greater clarity to the actions so that these well-identified and adjusted needs can be transmitted to EEAC in the following periods”, added the official.

These schemes seek to contribute to overcoming the situation of vulnerability of  victims of forced displacement who returned or relocated in the municipality of Río Viejo.
