Ramón Rodríguez, director of Victims Unit, said that the entity is awaiting immediate humanitarian attention being received by people who had to travel from Tumaco, Nariño, to Ecuador, with which they can guarantee their minimum subsistence in terms of accommodation and feeding.

Since people are already in foreign territory, the Victims' Unit cannot directly provide such assistance, but has been coordinating with the Colombian Foreign Ministry contacts with the Ecuadorian government to guarantee humanitarian assistance to people affected by armed groups, through an articulated work.

"We have been in communication with the authorities of Ecuador, with the chancellery coordinating and mainly also with the humanitarian workers who are present in Colombia and Ecuador," the official said.

In the same way, the Unit has been in contact with representatives of the Norwegian Refugee Council and International Red Cross. "The Norwegian Council has been making an intervention, we are also making contacts with the International Red Cross and what we are looking for is that our compatriots, who due to this situation had to leave to take shelter in Ecuador, can have at least the humanitarian attention in the immediacy".

These actions seek that Colombians who are in Ecuadorian territory due to the recent confrontations in the rural area of Tumaco may have room and board while the security conditions allow them to return to national territory.
