The Unit leaves its mark on Casabianca (Tolima)
The peasant victims who live in three paths received material worth 212 million pesos for the construction of a concrete footprint plate.
For the rural communities victims of violence of the paths La Porfía, El Coral and La Mejora, of the municipality of Casabianca, in the north of Tolima, the dream of having better land connectivity began to come true with the delivery of materials for the construction of 950 meters of concrete footprint plate, by the Victims Unit.
In the event attended by leaders of rural areas, officials of the Central territorial of the Unit and the municipal mayor's office, the certificate of delivery of 3,271 cement packages, 270 cubic meters of sand, 347 cubic meters of gravel was signed, 68.5 cubic meters of medium stone and 950 meters of wooden slats, inputs, which represent an investment of 212 million pesos and were transported by dump trucks to the square of the population.
Mayor William Cardona Orozco, reminded the audience that this was a project that began to take place a year ago and that had the unrestricted support of the Director General of the Victims Unit, Ramón Rodríguez. The president stressed that "this is the way to contribute to more development in the field" and announced that with the commitment of the community and the mayor "before the end of the year these communities will have the imprint plates, for a better life in its paths”.
These works are part of the processes that the Unit advances to improve the conditions of habitability and community social infrastructure of the victim population and according to Daniela Quintero, president of the community action board of the village La Mejora: “It is a dream come true, because thanks to this project we will leave so much suffering and we will be able to improve the economy and even make us want to compare cars”.
Casabianca, currently has about 6,500 inhabitants, mostly dependent on agricultural production and ecotourism; The population suffered a bloody attack from the farc in 2006 and for several years also faced the presence of paramilitary groups, which left a record of 886 victims of conflict.
