Ivan Duque’s Government increases budget for victims by 19%
This was announced by the Unit for Victims’ Director, Ramon Rodriguez, who assured these resources will be used especially for compensations payment.
This Thursday from Tolima, the Unit for Victims’ General Director, Ramon Rodriguez, announced a 19% increase in the entity's budget for 2023.
According to Rodriguez, these resources guarantee the Victims Public Policy application, especially for compensations payment.
“As a result of President Ivan Duque’s Government, by 2023, there will be a 19% budget increase, which means more attention, more resources for the victims’ population and, especially, for compensations payment,” said the Director.
Likewise, he stated it’s essential to seek additional resources besides the ones left by the current government, and he also stressed about the agreed commitments in the Final Peace Agreement by the extinct FARC.
“It is pivotal to look for additional resources. A good example is the commitment established in the Peace Agreement, which states that FARC must deliver their assets to repair victims. However, so far, we haven’t received even 10% of what they were supposed to deliver within this agreement framework,” assured Rodriguez.
The entity keeps working to obtain resources within the Law’s framework, this is done to benefit the conflict’s victims and thus, guarantee reparation.
