Agricultural supplies and tools allow the victims to stay in Apía, Risaralda

The Victims Unit delivered the special accompaniment scheme to 30 returned families, with the aim that they remain in the territory and continue to improve their living conditions.

The Victims Unit, through the process of returns and relocations, made the delivery of supplies and tools that will be used in the agricultural project, food security in the municipality of Apía, Risaralda, in order to comply with the actions established in the Plan of Returns and Relocations of the locality.

This delivery process serves as a guarantee of permanence of the peasant community in their productive establishment sites, benefiting 30 families in the territory, as reported by Laura Moreno Mejía, director of Eje Cafetero Unit and who led the delivery together with the mayor Luis Hernando Murillo.

“As a Victims Unit we are very happy to be able to make this delivery for victim families in the municipality of Apía, the main thing is to be able to guarantee the permanence of all in this beautiful coffee-growing territory and little by little to improve their quality of life from their agricultural work and the provision of seeds and essential tools for this exercise”, said Laura Moreno.

The deliveries contain pea seeds, coriander, spinach, beans, lettuce, corn, cucumber, tomato, carrot, rue, cape gooseberry, guava, lime, urea, compost and fertilizers, as well as tools such as hoes, carts, limes, machetes, meshes for chicken coops, watering can, poly shadows, sweet wire, manual knapsack pumps, baskets, buckets, rakes, barbed wire, polypropylene bags, forged pallets and bars.

During the day there was also the delivery of 10 letters of administrative compensation worth about $ 50 million pesos, for the same number of victims who were prioritized by their condition of people over 74 years of age, disability or suffering from a high disease cost.

The mayor of this municipality, Luis Hernando Murillo, spoke about the activity: “Today we see with pride and joy that the results of the meetings and the joint work between the Unit and the Apía Mayor's Office has its fruits, we work for the vulnerable population, especially with the victims of armed conflict and with this type of delivery we give them the message of compliance by the State, there they are the results of these inputs and seeds that are being delivered today contribute to the resurgence of the victims tilling the land as they know how to do it”.

The municipal mayor's office undertakes to provide technical assistance for a minimum period of six months from the date of delivery of supplies to the community, in the same way a monthly report of the progress in the execution of the project will be sent to the Subdirectorate of Prevention and Emergency Care, while the community commits to make proper use of the supplies delivered.

“This delivery seems very good to me, as they say there are the details that the national government falls in love with, it is a very important benefit for the community and for the victims, it helps us a lot to continue encouraging the agricultural issue, strengthening the countryside and food for the families”, said Wilson Ríos, coordinator of the Apía Victims' Roundtable.
