Truth Commission listens to victims of Antioquia

In Medellin, victims of Antioquia meet with members of the Truth Commission.

Representatives of victims of Antioquia delivered to the members of the Truth Clarification Commission, valuable information as input for real investigations and guarantee the truth that they claim as part of their reparation.

In the Center of Faith and Culture, located in the sector of El Poblado, the closing ceremony of the Departmental Meeting for Truth was held, a pedagogical meeting between the members of that Commission and 60 representatives of victims of the nine subregions of the department.

From May to November these leaders held workshops with the objective of collecting and compiling in an organized and chronological way the victimizing events that have occurred in their municipalities to expose them to the commissioners, who from November 29 will initiate this mechanism contemplated in the agreement of peace signed by the National Government and the demobilized guerrilla of FARC.

Ángela Salazar, victim of armed conflict in the municipality of Urabá and a member of the Truth Commission, said that "the truth commission is committed to comprehensive reparation to the victims because we victims have always claimed to know the truth of what happened, where it happened and how it happened. Additionally, work together to try to recover the trust of the communities, which was lost due to armed conflict and how to reach reconciliation based on non-repetition ".

Meanwhile, for Pastora Mira, victim of multiple victimizing events in the municipality of San Carlos, said that "knowing the truth of the events that occurred can begin to heal with dignity wounds that are still alive in the eagerness to find answers to Unfinished questions".

According to Wilson Córdoba Mena, director of Victims Unit in Antioquia, "this construction space carried out by victims and social organizations facilitates the members of the Commission for the Clarification of Truth, contemplated in the Peace Accords, they can have context and some data from the reconstructed memory of the facts that the victims themselves report to the commissioners in order to initiate the investigations so that they can clarify and know the reality of what happened".
