Mohán, the rural district that remembers its victims
The inhabitants of this Santander district hope that the violent events they suffered will never be repeated in their small town. The Unit provided the community with materials for the construction of a sports center.
With a commemorative act in the cemetery of the Mohán district in Suratá, a tribute was paid to the victims who died during the armed conflict in this town of Santander.
The day of resignification included the delivery and installation of a plaque in memory of the victims that will serve as a symbol of remembrance and non-repetition of these events that marked the municipality of Suratá and its townships.
Participants in the act were the members of the subject of collective reparation of the district, the promotion committee and leaders of the Mohán community. The territorial director of the Victims Unit in Santander, Gonzalo García, presented this plaque on behalf of the entity, which signifies forgiveness and the beginning of a new story for the victims who live in this town.
Uber Socha Durán, a member of the weavers of the collective reparation subject of Mohán, stated that "the deceased victims are gone, but always having them in memory is a way of assimilating everything that happened." "Thanks to the Unit for these acts that are simple but very beautiful", he added.
During the day, the Victims Unit also delivered materials for the construction of a sports center that will serve the population of this and other townships of Suratá.
"We thank the Unit because the contribution they are making to the construction of our sports center is a way of showing that they care about the victims and do not forget that we are here", said Giovanny Villamizar, member of the promotion committee of Mohán community.
These actions in Mohán are added to the delivery, in recent days, of the endowment of biomedical elements to the health post of the sector, which was remodeled by intervention of the Victims Unit and the Mayor's Office of Suratá.
