Day of repair measures in Turbay and El Mohán (Santander)

The realization of these products was the result of a participatory construction, the result of three workshops held with the community by the Communications Advisory Office of the Victims Unit, within the framework of communication projects carried out in the country with subjects of collective reparation, with the intervention of collective repair team and satisfaction measures.

Successfully completed the day of collective reparation conducted in the townships of Turbay and El Mohán, Suratá municipality, Santander, where 2,500 books and a video were delivered on which rests a historical memory of violence, told by its protagonists and 1,000 CDs with 9 unreleased songs from two musical groups of these townships.

In order to satisfy a need expressed by the community in its repair plan, a documentation work is done from their stories and experiences, to tell what happened in Turbay and El Mohán, from the late 70's to mid-2005.

"It is our desire that other communities, other subjects of reparation to know the suffering due to the armed conflict here in our area, we feel happy because our life has changed, with the Victims' Unit we have achieved a lot. I say that we have achieved peace in our region, "said Gregorio Hernández Niño, resident of Turbay.

"I am happy because the books were very nice, we are all victims and it was a job we did here, we met together in groups in a room of the restaurant we participated and contributed to build them", expressed, Alba Victoria Blanco Torres, inhabitant of El Silencio, Turbay township.

For his part, Óscar Cacua, member of the Promotion Committee, said that "it is very rewarding to receive this piece for which we work very hard, remembering difficult times but also reflecting on the need to move forward as a community," he said.

All this work ended with a delivery made this Wednesday in the village of Turbay that was attended by officials of the Victims Unit and the territorial director Santander, Gonzalo García Bautista, who highlighted the teamwork carried out with the community and the satisfaction of the inhabitants when receiving this material of historical memory. "It was a satisfactory balance, we have met with the community of Turbay and El Mohán and we have delivered a fruit of a job. See the faces of joy and satisfaction of that great effort made by them and in the company of the teams of Unit is the most rewarding; We know that with all that effort we will have a new scenario, they accepted and understood the invitation in terms that we will build a new mechanism of interaction with the community, participation, go hand in hand, build and together generate a new society", he said.

The morning ended with the musical presentation of the group Clavelitos de Turbay, one of the groups that make part of musical CD that narrates the daily life that live today after the violence, the inhabitants of these towns and their paths.
