Advances in the indigenous community repair route in Vichada
For five years the Unit has been working to dignify this Kanalitojo indigenous community, which suffered the scourge of violence in this department located at the eastern end of the country.
The Victims Unit, since 2014 began the process of Collective Reparation of Kanalitojo indigenous community, in Vichada, seeking to dignify this ethnic group by recognizing the damages that affected them and contributing to their repair from the political components, material and symbolic, through the measures of restitution, compensation, rehabilitation, satisfaction and guarantees of non-repetition.
This indigenous population is currently made up of 163 inhabitants from 33 families, they have occupied the rural area of Puerto Carreño municipality for more than a hundred years, and they have not been oblivious to the armed conflict.
That is why the Unit has advanced during these five years, the registration to the Single Registry of Victims, several days to strengthen the organizational and political process of the community's own government, the damages and effects of the collective were characterized and the Plan was built Comprehensive Collective Repair.
Among the reparation measures that have been provided by the Unit, are the strengthening of the collective livestock project, which they have been developing to promote the production of sustainable cattle and cattle economy; the practice of traditional medicine, through the design and cultivation of the medical garden; the recovery and strengthening of the ancestral knowledge of traditional doctors and the design and implementation of psychosocial meetings that facilitate the appropriation of identity who, due to displacement, lost cultural protective factors, falling back on the abuse of psychoactive substances and prostitution, among Other important aspects.
Juan Felipe Acosta, territorial director (e) for Meta and Llanos Orientales, said that the implementation of 36 actions that fulfill the existing commitments has been projected by the sub-division of collective reparation.
