Palestine learned about Colombia’s strategies of social development

A delegation from Palestine visited Colombia to know more about the government’s programs oriented to overcome extreme poverty, youth enterpreneurship, and the attention to victims of the internal armed conflicto. APC-Colombia promoted the visited and coordinated the Colombian entities in charge of topics related to social development.

A delegation from Palestine visited Colombia to know more about the government’s programs oriented to overcome extreme poverty, youth enterpreneurship, and the attention to victims of the internal armed conflicto. APC-Colombia promoted the visited and coordinated the Colombian entities in charge of topics related to social development.

The delegation learned about the work developed by the Victims Unit in terms of attention, assistance, reparation, and social inclusion of victims. During a meeting in the national headquarters in Bogotá, María Eugenia Morales, Unit’s director of Reparations, explained the public policy on the topic, and highlighted the issues of humanitarian attention and psychosocial support.

The delegation also visited the attention point called Rafael Uribe Uribe in Bogotá, where several entities share the space, and a common goal to provide response for the victims. ‘It is a wonderful center to attend victims and their processes,’ said doctor Thanaa Al Khazendar, of the Ministry of Social Affairs of Palestine. ‘I find it very positive the way they provide services, they work as a team,’ she added.

According to María Eugenia Morales, Unit’s director of Reparations, ‘we have had a very interesting opportunity to exchange experience, to show the great progresses made in the process of reparations in Colombia, and also to learn about other approaches.’
