‘Without conflict, reparation to victims should be more effective’: Alan Jara
At the request of mayors, the director of the Unit for Attention and Reparation for Victims also pledged to co-finance the construction of three ‘veredales’ bridges (two in Dabeiba and one in Ituango) and a school in Ituango, in rural areas of these municipalities.
The director of the Unit for Attention and Reparation for Victims, Alan Jara, announced in the municipality of Ituango (Antioquia department) that "without armed conflict with the FARC" the entity assumes the challenge of moving forward with more manageability and action in the reparation policy aimed at the population affected by the violence.
During the decentralized meeting of the Joint Commission on Peace of the Colombian Congress, held on Saturday in the Antioquia municipality, the senior official stressed that the definitive ceasefire, which begins next Monday, should favor the communities most affected by the conflict, which should be prioritized in the post-conflict.
Jara said that 686 families victims of Ituango have received compensation, as established by the Law of Victims, but "now in peace we must work more quickly because this municipality has 17,000 victims."
