In a self-motivated and voluntary activity, about 150 students from the University of the Atlantic (Universidad del Atlántico), with banners and music, holding hands and singing in chorus the phrase "Peace ... we do not want war, we want peace", were grouped in a garden entrance of the institution to demonstrate its support to end armed confrontation. The University conducts a process of collective reparations with the Unit for the Victims, due to group damages occurred during the internal armed conflict.

The initiative, encouraged by student Allan Paternina, began Thursday August 25 at 6:30 am. As part of the eight million victims left by the violence, students invited to close the “saddest and most violent page in the country.”

Jonathan Camargo, student representative to the Governing Council, stressed that the agreement is very significant for them. "We celebrate as students […]. Unfortunately, the war took away many sons of our institution."

Alfredo Palencia, regional director of the Unit for Victims, said that these acts demonstrate how a community victim in the process of collective reparations is committed to peace and reconciliation in our country. "It's a beautiful example of will and commitment to peace, and potentiates the reparation work led by the Unit," said Palencia.
