People displaced by combats in Corinto (Cauca) will receive assistance from the Victims Unit
The shelter kits contain mattresses, blankets and sheets, and with the kitchen kit they make their food through community pots.
A total of four kits of shelters that will be located in each of the permanent assembly places, in which displaced persons are temporarily located, will be delivered by the Victims' Unit to those affected by the fighting that occurs between illegal armed groups in the jurisdiction of Corinto (Cauca).
This was announced by Dan Harry Sánchez Cobo, Cauca territorial director of the Victims Unit, who added that there are a total of 216 displaced persons that correspond to 74 families from three villages: from the village of San Pedro there are 9 families (22 people), of El Crucero there are 30 families (100 people) and of Río Negro 35 families (94 people).
"Since we were aware of the fighting and the humanitarian situation in the area, the Cauca Territorial Victim Unit conducted constant monitoring of the region and on Wednesday and Thursday we are present in the area, together with the Ombudsman's Office, MAPP -OEA, the Tierra de Paz Foundation and the municipal administration, to verify the facts and accompany the communities, "said Sánchez Cobo.
Likewise, the director indicated that the four kits of shelters that will be delivered next week contain mattresses, blankets and sheets and that cooking kits will also be delivered to prepare their food through community pots, in case that the fighting continue.
Finally, Dan Harry Sánchez assured that the Victims' Unit participated this Thursday in a Transitional Justice Committee in Corinto and that it will continue to monitor the situation in the region and provide advice to the municipal administration in everything related to the humanitarian situation in area.
