New delivery of humanitarian aid in kind was completed in Guaviare
Through the Unit's Emergency Prevention and Attention Branch, food kits were delivered to indigenous people in this department.
The Victims Unit delivered 102 humanitarian aid kits in kind to Nukak Maku indigenous communities in Agua Bonita, Puerto Flores, El Capricho, Charras and Tierra Alta settlements, and to 61 jiw families located in the municipality of Puerto Concordia, Meta .
This new installment was given in order to continue guaranteeing comprehensive care for indigenous communities that are in a prolonged special emergency, according to Decree Law 4633 of 2011.
Each kit is made up of elements of personal hygiene and food strictly chosen so that they meet the living standards of this indigenous population.
The deliveries have been made approximately eight years ago on a monthly basis, with which the Victims Unit complies with the orders of the Constitutional Court.
For her part, Vanessa Lema Almario, territorial director in charge of the Victims Unit, in Meta and Llanos Orientales, stressed that the indigenous communities of Guaviare and Meta, "who are at risk of physical and cultural extermination, and have being affected their ethnic integrity, they must be provided with what is necessary to safeguard their subsistence".
