A group of 10 women delegates of the departmental roundtables of victims of sexual violence met today in Bogota with Alan Jara, director of the Unit for the Victims, to submit proposals that benefit the population under the agreement reached on gender in Havana (Cuba).

The group of delegates of Meta, Cauca, Antioquia, Tolima, Caldas, Córdoba, Sucre and Bogotá presented proposals such as having greater participation of women in rural areas, an approach more inclusive towards sexual violence, new opportunities for participation and partnerships in terms of psychosocial care in the regions. Proposals were heard and answered by the director of the Unit and its officials.

Yolanda Mosquera Perea, national delegate for the department of Antioquia representing victims of sexual violence, made a positive assessment of the meeting: "This is the will we need and the solutions that we require in the territories. This is a great opportunity. Peace is signed in Havana, but we build on the territory ".

Alan Jara, Victims Unit’s director, said that "the proposals included in the agreement in Havana are very relevant since they take into account sexual violence in the context of the conflict”.
