Victims Unit led community dialogues with victims in Garzón (Huila)

The strategy seeks that the victims are the ones who update and prioritize the actions established in the Return and Relocation Plan that is carried out.

The Caquetá-Huila Territorial Victims Unit develops community dialogues with those affected by the conflict in the rural and urban areas of Garzón municipality, in the department of Huila.

According to Yhina Paola Lombana, territorial director of the Unit in Caquetá-Huila, these community approaches seek that the community that lives the return and relocation process is the one that adjusts and prioritizes the type of projects it needs, seeking to fully comply with the restoration of their rights.

"This time the whole community did not participate, some leaders were chosen, who in a very diligent way transmitted and sustained the feelings of the target population, updating and landing the actions embodied in the plan and that at this moment were ambiguous", added Lombana, after noting that as a result of the approaches carried out, 72 actions were established by community leaders.

Likewise, the official said that the Unit seeks to guarantee measures so that the target population does not suffer the rigors of displacement again and can remain in the place where they have decided to return or relocate and develop their life plan gradually and progressively integrating to community.

Lombana recalled that the entity, in 2019, delivered 44 computers to two educational institutions in the urban area of ​​Garzón, as part of this program.

"It should also be noted that at this time three projects are being processed: two for the Zuluaga health center that consist of furnishing furniture and biomedical equipment and the third seeks to support the Barrios Unidos Educational Institution", added the territorial director.

The activities were carried out in person, keeping the biosecurity protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
