The Unit accompanies and coordinates the humanitarian emergency due to massive displacement in Tibú, Norte de Santander
The entity participated in the Territorial Committee of Transitional Justice, as a result of the massacre of six people in rural Tibú.
The authorities of Norte de Santander activated the contingency plan in the municipality of Tibú, the Catatumbo subregion, where the Victims Unit coordinates actions to deal with the humanitarian emergency.
The decision was adopted within the framework of the Territorial Committee of Transitional Justice, in which representatives and delegates of the civil, police, military and national authorities analyzed the recent acts of disruption of public order related to a massacre of six people in the hamlets Totumitos and La Carbonera.
According to the director of the Victims Unit in Norte de Santander and Arauca, Alicia María Rojas Pérez, “the entity is carrying out a technical accompaniment to this humanitarian emergency and, attentive to compliance with the protocols established for the care of the population victim of "These violent and intimidating events, we are working in an articulated manner with the territorial entities and institutions to guarantee timely attention and assistance".
The meeting took place virtually, amidst the mandatory preventive isolation that occurs in the country caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with the health guidelines established by the national government.
