The Congress of Colombia followed up on the Public Policy of Victims in Cauca

The Victims Unit in Cauca participated in the public hearing cited by that corporation to follow up on Law 1448 in the department.

Virtually and with the presence of representatives of tables for the participation of victims, the Public Ministry, the Government of Cauca and mayors of the department, the Victims Unit participated in the virtual hearing of the Commission for Monitoring Law 1448 of 2011 of the House of Representatives, in which the implementation of public policy in the Cauca territory was evaluated.

In this space, the Victims Unit presented to the House representative John Jairo Hoyos, the mechanism to support territorial entities in the construction of Territorial Action Plans (PAT), advances in collective reparation and the delivery of compensation administrative and humanitarian aid amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the methodology, officials from the Cauca Government and municipal mayors showed the details of the budget assigned by their administrations for the comprehensive care and reparation of victims.

According to Dan Harry Sánchez Cobo, Cauca territorial director of the Victims Unit, “in the midst of the health emergency caused by COVID-19, work continues to implement the law in Cauca. This is how we have virtually provided assistance to territorial entities of 42 municipalities of Cauca, seeking that Law 1448 has a special chapter within the municipal development plans and in the same way to be able to leverage projects in social and community infrastructure, agriculture and the provision of school furniture, among others”.

During the day, the representatives of the victims made their requests and agreed on upcoming meetings that will allow the articulation of improvement actions in aspects related to the implementation of the law in Cauca.
