The Victims Unit participated in the virtual hearing of the Follow-up Commission to Law 1448 of 2011, of the House of Representatives, which addressed, among other issues, the incorporation of public policy in the planning instruments of the territorial entities of Casanare.

John Jairo Hoyos, representative to the Chamber for Valle del Cauca and president of the Commission, explained that “the objective of this space is to listen to the parties and find out if the table participated in the construction of the development plan; if the Territorial Action Plan (PAT) is being worked on; how is the relationship between the tables and the mayoralties, and come together with the national entities to carry out the projects for victims”.

In accordance with the methodology, representatives of the Interior and the mayoralties presented about the budget assigned in the development plans for reparation and comprehensive care for victims, and about the programs and projects that will be carried out for that population, in accordance with the period from local leaders.

Throughout the meeting, requests from victims' representatives were met, such as José Alirio Barrera, member of the National Participation Table, whose request created a working table with the Person Search Unit given by Disappeared, which will be in session next week.

In turn, the territorial manager in charge of the Unit in Meta and Llanos Orientales, Vanessa Lema, maintained that in the framework of the pandemic, the Unit issued, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, the guidelines for virtual technical assistance, to guarantee that the municipalities take the victim population into account in their planning instruments.

"We provide technical assistance on the inclusion of public policy in development plans to the Interior and 18 mayoralties of Casanare, and in formulation of the PAT to the delegates of the same number of municipalities", he assured.

The official added that the entity compiled the drafts of the development plans for their review and analysis, contributing through feedback with technical concepts, observations and recommendations, for compliance with the provisions of the Victims Law.

Among other things, Lema indicated that this year, with a cut as of May 31, the Unit compensated 487 victims for a value of $ 4.832 million. Likewise, that until June 30, the Unit has supported 2.183 homes in Casanare, through Humanitarian Attention drafts for more than $ 1.300 million. And she stressed that despite the pandemic, on the same date the entity attended to the requests of 21.680 victims of the department.

The Comptroller, Ombudsman, Land Restitution Unit, Ministry of Housing and Department of Social Prosperity also participated in this meeting.

Next Wednesday, July 15 at 8:00 in the morning, the session will continue to listen to the interventions of the municipalities that were unable to participate due to a time limit.
