Follow-up to the public policy of victims in Armenia
The Armenian mayor's office held the First Transitional Justice Committee 2020, in order to review actions in favor of those affected by the conflict.
The territorial director of the Victims Unit in Coffee Region, Laura Moreno Mejía, led the entity's delegation to the Transitional Justice Committee of the city of Armenia (Quindío), in which a summary of the main activities was carried out that the mayoralty of said municipality undertook for the benefit of the victims who live in its jurisdiction.
According to the statistical data of the National Information Network, in the capital of Quindío there are 18.079 victims of armed conflict, so far this year the Unit has repaired by means of the letter of compensation mechanism to 239 people, which has represented a investment of the entity of $ 2.153 million pesos.
“We are making a great effort from the Unit to continue meeting the needs of people in the territory despite the events we have had with COVID-19; We are delivering compensation and humanitarian aid money transfers throughout the Coffee Axis and Armenia has not been a stranger to this process. We continue working hand in hand with entities to improve the quality of life of people in the territory and we hope to be allies to continue rebuilding the social network in the capital of Quindío", said the territorial director of the Unit, during the face-to-face act that was fulfilled in the Ancízar López auditorium of the mayor's office, with all the biosecurity measures.
In development of the committee, the approval of the work schedule that will be fulfilled during the current term was carried out, in the same way the advances in the incorporation of the public policy of victims in the territorial development plan were socialized.
Likewise, there was a space to socialize and approve the operational plans of the Territorial Action Plan (PAT), a mechanism through which the mayor's office will implement plans, programs and projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the victim population living in the city of Armenia. Such PAT can address plans such as: returns and relocations, collective reparation, contingency plans, prevention and protection of human rights violations, among others.
The victims who represent the population before the Committee, headed by Nora Elisa Vélez, were also present at the event, monitoring the actions taken by the territorial entity. Likewise, at the end of the activity, the concept of territory security was validated, with which it is possible to carry out actions of returns and relocations in the capital of Quindio, without any type of inconvenience.
