Montenegro council wants to work for survivors of conflict

In order to know in detail, the scope of the Victims and Land Restitution Law, the Victims Unit presented its institutional offer to the lobbyists of this Quindío town.

In order to publicize the scope of the public policy of victims and articulate so that the plans, programs and projects in favor of this population are included in the 2020-2023 Development Plan, Laura Moreno, territorial director of the Victims Unit in Coffee Region, was present in the Municipal Council of Montenegro, Quindío.

At the meeting, which was also attended by members of the Municipal Board of Victims, headed by its coordinator Luz Elcira Vanegas and leaders of victims, spoke of generalities of Law 1448, comprehensive reparation, participation, psychosocial care, collective reparation, aid humanitarian, compensation, military notebooks, among others.

“It is very good to be able to participate in these types of spaces that serve to expose in a comprehensive way everything that has to do with the victims of armed conflict in the territory, the institutional offer that exists for them and in passing make clear the competencies that our entity has in relation to people affected by different victimizing events”, said Laura Moreno.

In the municipality of Montenegro, 3,000 people are currently subject to attention, according to data from the National Information Network.

“We want to thank the Victims Unit for responding to the call made by the Council of Montenegro and in this way learn more about the public policy of victims, we know that resources are very scarce, but we ask you to work on the hand to give us much more coverage in care and help us compensate those victims who are old and sick”, said Councilor Adrian Piedrahita.

Against the humanitarian aid component, the Victims Unit has allocated a total of $ 2,784 million pesos, in order to help solve the situation of vulnerability of families living in the territory.

"We are a municipality of the sixth category, without resources and that is why we are going to ensure that the victim policy is included in the development plan, because what is not there is as if it did not exist," concluded Councilwoman Cristina Sáenz Arias
