With the delivery of this Center, it is sought that the 166,000 victims of the region can find the entire institutional offer, articulated in one place.

With the presence of the Director of Interinstitutional Management of the Victims Unit, the territorial director of the entity in Magdalena Medio, the governor of Santander, the municipal mayor of Barrancabermeja, representatives of the municipal and departmental participation tables and the community In general, the Regional Assistance Center for Victims (CRAV) of Magdalena Medio was delivered.

Currently, in this region of the country there are ten points of attention, however, there was no place to concentrate the offer of various State entities for the victims of armed conflict.

In Barrancabermeja, approximately 250 survivors of armed conflict are assisted daily, from the departments of Antioquia, Cesar, Bolívar and Santander. With the construction of the CRAV, spacious and comfortable, it is expected to serve about 400 victims every day, in addition to having greater coverage in the Magdalena Medio region.

The main objective of the construction of this CRAV is to provide accompaniment, attention and guidance, articulated between the different entities of the National System of Comprehensive Assistance and Reparation to Victims (Snariv) that converge there and, at the same time, be able to remit and / or Follow up on cases that are often consulted by the population.

Simona Vásquez Meneses, coordinator of the Municipal Board of Victims, thanked the Victims Unit for the commitment it demonstrated with this delivery: “We are happy because we are receiving the Victim Assistance Center of Barrancabermeja, which will not only cover the area of ​​the victims of this city, but also those of Magdalena medio region and this it is due to the effort that has been made all these years with the support of the Victims Unit”.

This work that was carried out in an inter-institutional agreement had an approximate investment of $ 2,750 million, of which the Victims Unit contributes $ 1,526 million, the Government of Santander $ 850 million and the Municipal Administration part of a real estate valued at $ 169 million.

“The construction of this Center is an example to show, because an excellent inter-administrative work was done and everything so that a Care Center was built as we dreamed and projected it, is a national and territorial government effort; for us as a Victims Unit it is very gratifying because we know that the victims are not only the responsibility of us but of everyone and that became a reality”, said Aura Helena Acevedo, director of Inter-Institutional Management (DGI) of the Unit.

According to the National Information Network of the entity, in Magdalena Medio there are 165,919 victims of armed conflict, of which 148,166 are subject to attention.

At present, at the Barrancabermeja Service Point there is an offer of 13 institutions and what is expected is that in the CRAV there will be presence of the other entities of the Snariv.

The new Center includes an office for the Municipal Victim Participation Board; There will also be offices that will allow confidentiality in care when necessary, it will have two large waiting rooms, a cafeteria and a nurse's office, among other spaces that will benefit people affected by the armed conflict.

The contribution of the Victims Unit consisted of the adaptation and provision of the property.

During her visit to the city of Barrancabermeja, the Director of Interinstitutional Management of the Unit met with the Participation Board, in order to hear directly from its members, the needs and concerns they have as representatives of the victims of the municipality.
