“Vivificarte” strategy empowers women victims in Barrancabermeja
Through this psychosocial initiative, the entity seeks to promote women victims of sexual violence, through the recognition of their rights.
In order to contribute to the comprehensive reparation of women victims of crimes against their integrity, freedom and sexual training in the framework of armed conflict, the Victims Unit implements in Barrancabermeja, Santander, the strategy "Strengthening Capacities from the rights approach, Vivificarte”.
In this regard, the territorial director of the Victims Unit in Magdalena Medio, Amparo Chicué Cristancho, indicated that the activity had the active participation of 20 women residing in the Oil Port and was carried out adopting biosecurity measures due to the pandemic of COVID-19.
According to the official, this strategy "seeks to contribute to the comprehensive reparation of these women, with the strengthening of their life projects, through the implementation of satisfaction measures and guarantees of non-repetition, from a differential approach".
During the day, which had the support of the Barrancabermeja Mayor's Office and the Municipal Victims' Board, the women carried out an exercise of dignity, recognition and empowerment through an allusion to themselves, evoking a tree that is reborn and becomes projects through its branches.
For the remainder of this week, the Magdalena Medio region plans to advance two more days of the “Vivify you” strategy, one with 20 women to be held in person and the other with 26 women to be held virtually.
