“Vivificarte” strategy dignifies female victims in Ibagué
Dignification, empowerment and self-realization, scope of the psychosocial support provided by the Victims Unit to women who have suffered the crime against integrity and sexual freedom in the context of armed conflict.
For three days, 25 women who share the fact of having been victims of sexual violence and also victims of internal armed conflict, shared in a hopeful and restorative setting in the development of the psychosocial meeting “Vivificarte”.
The strategy implemented as a measure of satisfaction is part of the comprehensive reparation process and contributes to the participants taking on empowering roles and strengthening their status as independent women.
In this regard, Yolanda Yepes Muñoz, a member of the Victims Partition Effective Board of the Ibagué municipality, highlighted the moments lived during the development of activities and appreciated the fact of being able to exchange experiences. "We would like to be able to bring these programs to all the women of Tolima, since they are experiences told by other women and with a very assertive dynamic and that is why we want them to be maintained for next year”, she said.
The tree as a metaphor to represent the stages of a woman's life in three lines of action, is one of the tools used to symbolize dignity, recognition and their life projects; Actions that contribute to the emotional and social transformation of those who, despite suffering the rigors of violence and abuse, are today an example of overcoming.
For the Central Territorial Director of the Unit, María José Dangond, contributing through these actions to the dignity and empowerment of each one of these women is not only part of the of the Unit mission, but also a significant achievement for emotional repair: “They are people who deserve special attention, and in these spaces we listen to them, we understand them and we also make them identify with other women who have similar lives, not only because they have suffered a victimizing event but also because of a sense of overcoming and resilience”, he added.
Due to this victimizing act, in Tolima there are 478 women in the Single Registry of Victims.
