Victims Unit arranges satisfaction measures with victims of Salvatore Mancuso and other former paramilitary chiefs

The consultation days in the Atlantic began with a convocation of 89 victims from the municipalities of Galapa, Luruaco, Campo de la Cruz, Candelaria, Polo Nuevo, Ponedera, Santa Lucía, Suán, Manatí, Puerto Colombia, Baranoa, and Santo Tomás.

In compliance with the Justice and Peace rulings, the Victims Unit, in coordination with the Government of Atlántico and the territorial entities, led a virtual day with 12 municipalities of the department of Atlántico on Thursday to socialize the victims recognized in the court ruling against 12 paramilitary chiefs, known as 'Salvatore Mancuso' ruling, the measures contemplated therein to comply with the reparation of the victims.

This sentence is a prioritized judgement that recognizes around 12.000 victims in the country, especially in the departments of Atlántico, Bolívar, Magdalena, Santander and Norte de Santander, grouped into a total of 1.426 charges in patterns of homicide, forced disappearance, forced displacement, gender violence and illegal recruitment, which resulted in the massive victimization of the civilian population.

The Unit explained to the 89 victims summoned on the day, the scope under Law 1448 of 2011 and the differences they have with respect to the universe of victims included by administrative means, in order to comply with all the reparation measures that include components compensation, restitution, rehabilitation, satisfaction and guarantee of non-repetition. Likewise, the Government of the Atlantic explained to the victims the institutional offer that it has directly for the benefit of this community.

These days in the department began with a convocation of 89 victims from the municipalities of Galapa, Luruaco, Campo de la Cruz, Candelaria, Polo Nuevo, Ponedera, Santa Lucía, Suán, Manatí, Puerto Colombia, Baranoa, and Santo Tomás. Approximately 3.000 victims recognized in this judgment correspond to the department of Atlántico.

Representatives of the Attorney General's Office and victims' liaisons from the municipal territorial entities also participated in the meeting.

Finally, the Unit is in a process of collecting the requests and needs of the victims of the ruling to arrange and coordinate the actions and measures to be carried out. All the concerns and specific cases of these victims will be managed by the national level of the entity.
