Victims of Tame, Arauquita and Saravena received compensation in excess of $ 1.000 million
In Arauca, the system of comprehensive care and reparation for victims is strengthened, giving priority to people over 74 years of age, with disabilities or with catastrophic illnesses.
More than 1,000 million pesos delivered the Victims Unit to prioritized people in the municipalities of Arauquita and Saravena, populations characterized by Development Programs with a Territorial Approach (PDET).
“In the midst of mandatory preventive isolation, we arrived in these municipalities to benefit 66 victims of armed conflict who have disabilities, terminal illnesses and elderly people. In Arauquita we delivered 35 severance payments for a value of $ 381 million. In Saravena, we individually repaired 31 people with payments over $ 315 million and in Tame we made 40 payments for about $ 365 million”, said the territorial director of the Victims Unit in Norte de Santander and Arauca, Alicia María Rojas Pérez.
The official added that the economic benefit allows the population victim of armed conflict to improve their living conditions in times of pandemic. "It is another step in the comprehensive reparation process to dignify the living conditions of these people who suffered victimizing acts related to homicides, disappearances, forced displacement, among other crimes."
Rojas Pérez pointed out that the Unit will continue to carry out letter delivery sessions in other municipalities, complying with the biosecurity protocols established by the national government to mitigate the expansion of COVID-19.
Finally, she recalled that the selection criteria for the delivery of administrative compensation are programmed in accordance with the decrees and parameters established by the entity, without any kind of intermediaries in the process: "I invite victims of violence to report any situation irregularities presented to them in the individual reparation process. Deliveries are totally free, you should not pay anything to anyone, do not believe everything you hear. In Arauca, we are dealing with some cases where, apparently, third parties are charging for supposedly speeding up and delivering the payment of the money corresponding to the compensation”.
