Remains of forced disappearance victims will be delivered in 13 Colombian regions

The Unit for the Victims will join the process of delivering 36 bodies of direct forced disappearance victims in various departments in March.

The entity will be part of the process of dignified delivery of 36 forced disappearance victims’ bodies in Santander, Boyaca, Caldas, Antioquia, Norte de Santander, Guaviare, Cundinamarca, Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Cesar, Caqueta, Nariño and Bogota.

The relatives will have food, transportation, lodging and funeral elements according to their habits and beliefs. The entity's Assistance and Humanitarian Attention Sub-directorate will assign a professional to give information regarding the declared facts administrative reparation process.

"Support will be provided to the victims’ families from the Unit’s Psychosocial Focus Group and in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office, recognizing each case needs and expectations," said Aida Solano, the Psychosocial Focus Group Coordinator.

During these activities, the entities make sure families receive an explanation of the events that affected their loved ones, they also answer their questions and encourage a symbolic process development for their farewell; this is a reparative act that aims at non-repetition of these kind of events that happened in the armed conflict context.
