More than 700 victims will receive reparatory compensation in Antioquia municipalities
The Victims Unit favors with these public monies people from the priority repair route.
The Unit for Comprehensive Attention and Reparation to Victims continues with the delivery of 804 financial compensation during the month of November to people affected by the armed conflict in Antioquia municipalities.
In Dabeiba, Sabanalarga and Santa Fe de Antioquia, 80 of them benefited from this remedial measure, who will be able to improve their living conditions with resources of about 500 million pesos.
The director of the Victims Unit in Antioquia, Wilson Córdoba Mena, reported that "most of the compensated victims suffered crimes such as forced displacement, homicides, kidnapping and forced disappearance of relatives".
He also explained that, for the most part, “they are people over 74 years of age, with disabilities or with some ruinous disease, who benefit from the priority route of reparation in recognition of the victimizing acts that they suffered during the armed conflict and that should not be repeated”.
The more than 700 remaining indemnities to be delivered during this week correspond to the population residing in Medellín and municipalities of Valle de Aburrá, such as Bello, Copacabana and Itagüí.
These administrative compensations are in addition to more than 1.130.000 already delivered by the Victims Unit in the last nine years in Colombia in compliance with the Victims Law. Of these, more than 270.000 in Antioquia.
In total, the Victims Unit has invested more than 13 billion pesos in Colombia (3 billion in Antioquia) for individual reparation, humanitarian and emergency aid, community infrastructure projects and subsidiary support to territorial entities.
