In Itagui, the Victims' Unit awarded 102 economic compensation

This compensation is part of the integral reparation to the people affected by the conflict who live in this municipality in Antioquia.

The Victims Unit in Antioquia delivered the administrative compensation with resources close to $ 706 million to survivors of the armed conflict residents in Itagüí (Antioquia).

The 102 survivors benefited with this measure of economic reparation are part of   the more than 2,000 victims who benefit from this reparative measure between the last week of June and the month of July. Additionally, they received advisory in the adequate investment of these   public resources.

Rafael Zea, victim of displacement of the municipality of Caldas said that "I am very happy to receive this money, the purpose I have with this resource is to set up a fruit business with my wife and also to have this money for my health".

Wilson Córdoba, director of the Unit for Victims in Antioquia, said that "with these resources what we are looking for is to target the generation of income of the affected population, which will close the gaps that violence and conflict has left them. "

The official also explained that "the entity is giving priority throughout the country to people over 74 years of age, or with a disability or terminal illness, who receive a dignified and preferential treatment during these days."

Between 2012 and 2019, the Victims Unit has delivered nearly 990,000 financial compensations to survivors of the armed conflict in Colombia   (more than 236,000 in Antioquia), with an investment of $ 6 billion, out of a total of 11.3 billion invested in the implementation of the Victims Law. The total investment in Antioquia amounts to $ 2.6 trillion.
