Through the individual reparation component, the Victims Unit delivered 52 letters of compensation to the same number of victims in the department of Risaralda, worth $ 394 million pesos. These monies of free destination for the victims and their families come to rebuild the dreams they had before suffering the consequences of armed conflict.

“The war has affected millions of people in the country, but we have witnessed the capacity for transformation that the victims have had and their courage to rebuild their life projects, that is why these resources that today come to them from the Unit they give us back the hope of being able to heal wounds and continue with a process of restoration of the social network”, commented Laura Moreno, territorial director of the entity in the Coffee Region.

In addition to the compensation received, people are always instructed about the appropriate investment of these resources, especially in the lines of housing improvement, higher education, improvement of the quality of life of the elderly or setting up an individual productive project, which make them independent and self-sustaining.

Likewise, the victims are invited not to be deceived by unscrupulous people who offer to manage the procedures before the entity, which are free and do not require intermediaries, and to report events that may affect the victims or the resources public destined for their repair.

"Well, I pay the rent and I am really encouraged by these resources to finally be able to get a plot of land and pay, but to build my own, it is the dream I have of having my own house”, said Ana García *, one of the victims benefited.

In the department of Risaralda, according to data from the National Information Network, there are 97.649 victims of the armed conflict, from this universe the Unit for Victims has already advanced the process of delivering 16.924 compensations worth $ 111.198 million pesos.
