Compensations delivered by the State repairs 82 victims of conflict in Barranquilla
The victims also received guidance and advice for an adequate investment of resources, which amount to 571 million pesos provided by the Victims Unit.
During the weekend, in compliance with strict biosecurity and distancing measures, 82 victims of armed conflict residing in Barranquilla received financial compensation for 571 million pesos, this being one of the comprehensive reparation measures contemplated in Law 1448 of 2011.
The victims who experienced events of forced displacement, homicide, personal injury, crimes against sexual freedom and integrity, were guided by professionals from the individual reparation group of the Victims Unit on issues of the entity's offer and other public institutions for the adequate investment of the monies received, advice on housing, higher education, savings and productive projects.
According to the Single Registry of Victims, 149.688 cases were declared in the district of Barranquilla, among which 133.384 belong to victims of forced displacement who arrived in the capital of the department of Atlántico fleeing the war. Currently 73.037 of them still remain in this city of the country.
"To date, the Victims Unit has managed to allocate more than 131.308 million pesos in the reparation of 17.197 victims in Barranquilla, exceeding 18.402 reparations transfers, taking into account that some victims suffered more than one act of victimization", explained the director of the Victims Unit in Atlántico, Alfredo Palencia.
During the day, which took place at San Salvador District Educational Institution, the entity socialized its anti-fraud campaign "Don't believe everything you hear" and reiterated to the victims that the procedures, consultations and procedures before the entity are free and that they do not need intermediaries or processors to access reparation measures or other benefits to which they are entitled by law.
