With an interactive exhibition and a discussion, in which the survivors of conflict will be protagonists, the Victims' Unit, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with the support of Multidonante Fund of the United Nations for the Sustainability of Peace, will be held next June 19 in Carepa (Antioquia), the closing of Coexistence and Peace Strategy. The strategy, aimed at victims of armed conflict, was implemented since August 2017 in 71 municipalities of 17 departments, contributing to effective access to comprehensive reparation.

The Coexistence and Peace Strategy contemplates rehabilitation measures, focused on the process of emotional recovery; measures of satisfaction, focused on the dignity of participants and the reconstruction of their memory; and the compensation measure, focused on the proper use of resources to strengthen the life projects of participants. The objective of the strategy is to guarantee integral reparation to the victims of armed conflict.

Within the framework of the Strategy, 29,722 people received rehabilitation and satisfaction measures; and 42,251 people have received the compensation measure. Of these, 4,500 correspond to municipalities in the Urabá Darién area, in the departments of Antioquia and Chocó.

Regarding the rehabilitation measures Cilene Muñoz, from Montelíbano (Córdoba), beneficiary of project, indicated that "the strategy taught me that we can heal our wounds, that we can restore our past, we can forget it and we can form something much better. That impacted my life to feel safe, to forget the past and to be able to come forward".

For her part, María Flor Pulgarín, from Apartadó (Antioquia), highlighted the financial education component that is part of the compensation measure: "Meetings were very important to me, we shared a lot with the other colleagues, we talked. They taught us to save, what you get in the month or in the fortnight, know, save and also teach the children, teach other partners how to save to get what you want later", he noted.

The event will begin at 8:00 A.M. and it will have the participation of 450 victims of Carepa, as well as representatives of local, national and international institutions, among which the General Director of the Victims Unit, Ramón Rodríguez; the mayors of the municipalities of Apartadó, Carepa and Turbo in Antioquia and Acandí, Carmen del Darién and Riosucio in Chocó; and the Head of Mission of the IOM in Colombia, Ana Durán Salvatierra.
