Awareness Week on Enforced Disappearance in Guainia

Through commemorative acts, tribute will be paid to the memory of those people who are still awaited by their families, after suffering forced disappearance by an armed actor during the conflict.

The Victims Unit in the capital of Guainía will carry out different actions of socialization and awareness-raising during the Week of Enforced Disappearance, organized with entities that make up the National System of Attention and Integral Reparation for Victims (Snariv).

"From last Monday until Thursday, the different secretariats of the Mayor's Office of Inírida with the support of some dependencies of the Government and other entities of Snariv will hold talks, conferences, and general activities that will seek to positively impact the visitors of the Point of Attention to the Victims", affirmed Martha Parra Borda, professional of the Unit in Guainía.

The action agenda will culminate next Friday, May 10, with an event that hopes to gather more than 70 people, among whom family members who are victims of this fact who reside in the department are cited. It is expected through memorial acts to pay homage to the memory of those people who are still awaited by their families, after having suffered forced disappearance by an armed actor in the context of violence.

For his part, Carlos Pardo Alezones, territorial director of the Unit in Meta and Llanos Orientales, stressed that "Guainía in the Single Registry of Victims 125 cases are reported on this fact. It is, without a doubt, one of the infractions of International Humanitarian Law that occurred during the armed conflict that causes the most pain in the survivors, who are waiting for the truth about what happened. That is why the relevance of socially sensitizing about support, the need for justice processes and especially mechanisms that guarantee the non-repetition of these events", he said.
