50 victims of armed conflict received their financial reparation, in Medellín
In Medellín, the first day of compensation was held this year for victims of armed conflict
On the first session of this year in Medellin, 50 survivors of armed conflict received their compensation worth 510 million pesos.
The regional director of the Unit for the Reparation of Victims, Wilson Cordoba Mena, assured that “with the accompaniment of professionals of the entity they are oriented to the victims so that they can manage these resources they receive for having suffered the consequences of violence in this area of the country. The victims mostly decide to invest the money in education and housing".
Ligia Margarita, one of the victims who benefited from this first installment of the year, said that “12 years ago that I was displaced from Zaragoza, I had to live a very horrible tragedy because my son was killed by armed groups, so I went to Monteria, and to improve my quality of life I came to Medellin, where I finally got the money with what I will buy a house”.
The official also said that “Antioquia is the region most benefited from individual reparation with more than 250,000 compensations to victims with an investment of resources for 1.6 billion pesos. Additionally, the director announced that for the next week the projection of this integral reparation measure will be delivered that Antioqueños will receive in compliance with the law 1448 for the year 2020”.
In total, the Victim Reparation Unit has invested 12 billion pesos in Colombia (2.78 billion in Antioquia) for individual reparation, humanitarian and emergency aid, community infrastructure projects and subsidiary support to territorial entities for attention to the population affected by the conflict.
