The Victims Unit, since March of this year, has prioritized economic reparation to victims of conflict with a differential approach, that is, they have conditions of manifest urgency in their health or extreme vulnerability.

Through a Space of Social and Economic Inclusion, carried out in the Regional Center for Victim Assistance in Barranquilla, located in Juan Mina township, another 207 victim homes with a differential approach received the payment of their compensation. The total amount in reparation of these victims exceeds $ 1,699 million.

The Victims Unit, in search of advancing in the application and delivery of compensation to victims of armed conflict, stipulated in resolution 1049 of March 15, 2019, the creation of two repair routes, prioritized and general, that improve this process for the facts susceptible to administrative compensation: forced displacement, homicide, forced disappearance, kidnapping, torture, personal injuries that caused temporary disability, personal injuries that caused permanent disability, crimes against sexual integrity, children and adolescents born to consequence of sexual violence in the context of conflict, and forced recruitment.

That is why the compensation to victims delivered by the Unit during 2019 has been given under the prioritized route complying with the criteria of age (adults over 74 years), illness or disability, which present situations of manifest or urgent urgency. extreme vulnerability, which translates into attention and repair with a differential approach. Victims who do not comply with these criteria must wait until the general route payment begins.

During the delivery day, the Unit director in Atlántico, Alfredo Palencia, reiterated to the victims that they do not pay percentages, commissions or give votes to those who have promised to boost or intercede for the payment of their compensation.

“This delivery of compensation letters has nothing to do with policy, nor are we giving them this payment because someone here is a friend of the director, or because a third party helped them process their compensation and that is why now you must give them a percentage, you He is not obligated to that. Neither to give money nor votes. If this resource is being given, it is because you apply to the criteria of prioritization, whether by age, illness or disability. So take advantage of these resources”, concluded Palencia.

To date, 19,125 indemnities have been delivered to the department of Atlántico, whose investment exceeds $ 135,000 million.

According to the records of the National Information Network of the Victims Unit, 243,749 victims came to the department of Atlántico to declare their displacements, homicides, disappearances, and other events suffered because of the conflict, of which 175,400 currently reside in the 23 municipalities of the department, among them 25,384 are older than 61 years, and 7,555 of those victims, register disability or terminal illness.

In Atlántico, Barranquilla is the city with the highest number of victims, receiving 149,349 cases. It is followed by the municipalities of Soledad with 50,067, Malambo with 11,098, and Santo Tomás with 4,704 victims.
