Unit seeks cultural strengthening of indigenous Embera Chamí in Caquetá
A cultural exchange is being prepared with indigenous communities in the departments of Caldas and Antioquia.
The Victims Unit in Caquetá developed a cultural strengthening day aimed at ensuring that the Embera indigenous people, located in Honduras reservation in the rural area of Florencia, continue to preserve their ancestral roots and avoid the extermination of their customs.
The purpose is that the dynamics implemented by the Unit allow this community to enrich the constant practice of ancestral traditions and the transmission of knowledge to the youngest.
Yhina Paola Lombana, territorial director of the Unit in Caquetá and Huila, pointed out that “this approach was worked from the Comprehensive Plan of Collective Reparation, carrying out activities alluding to traditional dance, clothing, music and ancestral painting, as well as the recovery of traditional uses. and customs on food issues, closing the community's coping spaces, dealing with pain and grief and recovering family ties”.
The official also said that it is important to strengthen the customs that go from generation to generation, preserving their language, clothing, traditional food, legends, stories, indigenous medicine and music, as well as traditional games, to preserve the demonstrations and the legacy history of cultures.
In November, a day of cultural exchange is planned with indigenous communities from the departments of Caldas and Antioquia, for which the Embera People Caquetá prepare special presentations.
