For Mema Churio, wife of Argemiro Quiroz, immolated in the public square and in the presence of all the people at the hands of paramilitary groups, the inauguration of the Main Plaza of Guacoche - named after her husband - is the spiritual recognition for her people, who suffered for many years the yoke of the armed.

The delivery of the square was the measure of closure of the actions contemplated in the Comprehensive Collective Repair Plan (PIRC) of that population.

Today, thanks to the peace process and the actions carried out by the Victims Unit, the wounds - although they leave scars - have already closed. "We will never forget it, but seeing that bust of my husband every day and the monument to the tinajeras makes us live that mixture of nostalgia and joy," said Mema, symbol of the abnegation, nobility and resistance of all that people who were subjected and massacred by the so-called self-defense groups.

In this town on the banks of the Cesar River, the elaboration of earthen jars has been an ancestral custom, which was at risk due to the intervention of armed groups. With the repair process, which included the monument as a measure of satisfaction, the intention is to perpetuate the tradition so that it continues its course from generation to generation.

After several years of hard and persistent work of the Unit and the support of the Government of Cesar, Guacoche has resurfaced and received psychosocial attention for two thousand inhabitants, programs of productive units and other measures of satisfaction, such as the square that was missing, with everything and its monuments.

"This investment is for our children and the next generations, gives us a satisfaction and allows us a spiritual recognition for my people," said 'Mema', midwife guacochera,

Francisco Ovalle Angarita, governor of Cesar, highlighted the importance of the work and the role of the Victims Unit in a process of collective reparation that has set the tone and is an example in the country. "Not all the towns have had the guarantors that today have the guacocheros, thanks to the work of that team that never got discouraged before the challenge of fulfilling the obligation of the State. Here is the park with the bust of our friend 'Miro' Quiroz and the sculpture in honor of those noble women tinajeras ", assured the president of Caesarea.

For his part, the mayor of Valledupar, Augusto Ramírez Uhía, could not hide his emotion: "this investment is not only reaching a township with many needs, but it is claiming the right of the victims, the collective right. I celebrate that after so much pain today this square serves to unite families, friends and hope, "said the official.

The physical works built as part of the Comprehensive Collective Repair Plan included sporting venues, a biosaludable gym and a playground for infants. They had a value over $ 2,900 million.
