The process of collective reparation for the community of Kanalitojo is advancing, in Vichada
This of Subject of Collective Reparation would be the first to close the Unit this year in the Territorial Meta and Eastern Plains.
The Victims Unit provided logistical support to the indigenous community of Kanalitojo, in Puerto Carreño, the capital of Vichada, for the development of the follow-up meeting for the homeless people who guarantee the food security of its members.
This initiative benefits 40 families from the Sáliba, Sikuani and Amorúa indigenous peoples, who have managed to grow products such as cassava and corn, for their own consumption and also generate income through marketing.
As a result of the meeting, the community found that the conucos have been strengthened thanks to the dual-purpose livestock project (meat and milk), through the practice of mashing, which contributes to fertilize the lands of the shelter. It also evidenced the need for materials such as wire, hand pumps and herbicides, implements that the Unit promised to manage with the territorial entities.
Vanessa Lema, director (e) of the Unit in Meta and Llanos Orientales, highlighted the community's commitment to complying with the actions established by the Comprehensive Collective Reparation Plan (PIRC) to strengthen their traditional practices. "These are autonomous activities that require great leadership by the traditional authorities, which I must highlight in the case of Kanalitojo, and that guarantee the successful advancement of the PIRC's actions", said the official.
A new meeting of this community is scheduled for July 24, with the aim of analyzing how young people have become involved in productive projects, in order to preserve their agricultural vocation.
The Kanalitojo Collective Reparation Subject would be the first to close the Unit this year in the Meta and Llanos Orientales area, after the full implementation of the PIRC.
