The memory of the 11 victims of the massacre of the Osaka farm was honored by Banana workers
As usual, they got up early to produce export-type bananas, but this time, a different motive and of great significance for them called them: to remember those who are no longer there, the 11 companions who lost on this farm on February 14, 1996.

At CATALINA DE OSAKA farm, in the municipality of Carepa, through a liturgical ceremony and a minute of silence, around 100 banana workers were summoned to honor the memory of 11 fellow farmers who lost their lives in this violent act, attributed to the fifth front of disappeared FARC.
The event, which was attended by the banana workers union (Sintrainagro), was held in the early hours of morning, with the aim of matching the homage with the fateful hour of that February 14, 1996, as they remember Some of the survivors, around 6:30 in the morning, approached their work when they were surprised by armed men who took them to the fatal outcome.
"For me the commemoration of this fact means keeping alive the memory of my colleagues, especially my wife. With this fact that we are commemorating today, we are making visible the victims of this massacre and our message to the other communities, to the whole country, that we hope that acts like this will never happen in other towns, in other cities, in all of Colombia “, said Humberto Moreno, representative of 'Memories that are reborn'.
This movement arises from different stories, photographs, experiences that for years kept of their families, "Memories that are reborn is a project that collects those hard moments that we had to live through the armed conflict, which disintegrated many families. Today we can count on the accompaniment of institutions, for us it has been very important ", narrated Julio Pantoja, one of the pioneers of this initiative.
The event allowed them to reconnect and lay the foundations as survivors of the paths they will take as an organization before the institutionality, although aware that the reparation will not be returned to their peers, they are certain that from these approaches they will be able to become more visible to the State. and be routed towards integral repair.
