Comprehensive reparation to the victims of armed conflict is one of the missionary objectives of the Victims Unit and this end is achieved through various means. This time, thanks to donations from DIAN, the Victims Unit was able to address a need for the Manasés fish farming projects in Filandia and the Pacific Style textile project in Armenia, inputs to improve the productivity of the enterprises.

“Manasseh” project, which means in the biblical context “God made me forget” was born in 2014 thanks to the collaboration of the diocese of Armenia which, by studying the peremptory needs of the victims in the department, set up several projects in the region, including fish farming in the municipality of Filandia.

Initially, the black and silver tilapia were cultivated and, after good results and a local market study, they decided to cultivate the red tilapia, much easier to commercialize, for which some lakes were built around some tomato greenhouses near the urban area of Filandia and the project began to grow along with training with various entities.

In order to strengthen this project, the Unit donated an electric motorcycle to the project. “Making this type of donation makes us infinitely happy, since we see the face of satisfaction of people who have wanted to get ahead through their productive projects and with this we are giving them a new mental impulse to continue working and improve the quality of life of their families in the territory”, said the territorial director of the Unit, Laura Moreno Mejía.

“Actually, we are very grateful to the Unit because the donation of this motorcycle will be of great use to us for the transport of fish food, the loading of fingerlings and of course in the distribution of the fish once it is harvested, without a doubt, this element comes to us like a glove”, said Mefir Castillo, leader and legal representative of the project.

Francia Mosquera, a victim of displacement, arrived 8 years ago in the department of Quindío and today she is the legal representative of Estilo Pacífico, an initiative dedicated to the manufacture and marketing of turbans and accessories, which since 2014 has not stopped growing.

This venture also received a good donation of fabrics of different types and raw materials for textile production, surely with this they will increase their production and generate income that will serve for the personal and productive growth of the families that are around this initiative.

“Thanks to the help of the Victims Unit and President Iván Duque our business has grown, we are very grateful for this material that we are receiving, we have a reason to celebrate and continue working, now we are thinking of strengthening ourselves as a company and being able to give shake hands with other families who, like us, suffered from the armed conflict” Mosquera concluded.
