Community of La Chinita will pay tribute to victims of the massacre that occurred 26 years ago
The acts of memory seek to honor the 35 deceased on January 23, 1994, in Apartadó (Antioquia).
In the Central Cemetery of Apartadó, the families of victims and the community in general will pay homage to their loved ones, through liturgical and memory acts, after the 26th anniversary of the massacre of 35 people in the Obrero neighborhood of Apartadó (Antioquia) ).
With these acts, the community seeks to make visible the resilience and empowerment that survivors have had in seeking the truth, reconciliation and progress in a process of collective reparation, which takes seven years, in which achievements in the component of participation and access to compensation.
In the last year, the Victims Unit delivered about $ 435,321,574 for the compensation of 55 direct relatives of the fatalities of the massacre recorded in 1994.
In addition to administrative compensation, within the collective reparation process, the affected community has received psychosocial and construction support of the social fabric, as well as support for the reestablishment of trust relationships through Entrelazando strategy, which is budgeted for closing the first half of this year.
In addition, through the empowerment of the community, significant progress has been made in the process of collective reparation, including the involvement of young people in preventive strategies and strengthening their skills; the redevelopment of the communal house and the radio training; and endowment to consolidate the virtual radio station, which was created with the purpose of telling the community's daily newspaper.
There are 18 measures that make up the Comprehensive Collective Repair Plan of La Chinita. Of satisfaction, guarantees of non-repetition, rehabilitation and restitution that contribute to the repair of collective damages caused by the armed conflict, of which, there are still 8 actions to be implemented, thus achieving the highest percentage implemented.
To date, the Victims Unit has made an investment in the collective reparation process that exceeds $ 280,883,626.39. Through this process, La Chinita has achieved to manage improvements for the neighborhood such as Sendero de la Reparación Colectiva Park and obtain resources for other development projects that benefit the entire community.
These acts in honor of the memory of the 35 victims of armed conflict lived in the Urabá region, organized by the families, will take place this Thursday, January 23 between 7:00 and 9:00 at night in the Central Cemetery of Apartadó, where liturgical and memory acts will be carried out.
Similarly, the Victims Unit will participate in a meeting convened by the Collective Reparation Subject Promotion Committee, which will present the progress, achievements and challenges of the Collective Reparation Plan, with the participation of local authorities and community in general convened by the group for 3:00 pm in the Auditorium of the Community Action Board.
