529 families in San José de Uré will benefit agricultural project
In the municipality of San José de Uré, Córdoba, the agreement for the agricultural project “Strengthening of productive projects for rice, cassava, passion fruit, plantain, among others; with the provision of supplies and tools to the Afro-Colombian community in the municipality”.
The Victims Unit and the Afro-Colombian communities of the municipality of San José de Uré, Subject of Collective Reparation, managed to sign the agreement for the agreement of the agricultural production project that has an investment of more than $ 200 million pesos by the Unit.
Among the benefited sectors of the municipality are: The Cimarrón Justo Chávez organization, the San José de Uré Community Council, Bocas de Uré, Bocas de La Cristalina, Viera Abajo, Brazo Izquierdo, Viera Arriba, Versalles and Batalito.
This project, articulated with the municipal administration, aims to guarantee food security for Afro-descendant communities and generate income to improve the quality of life of inhabitants of the municipality through the recovery of traditional agricultural practices affected by the armed conflict.
“I reiterate the Unit's commitment to the collective reparation implementation processes. This work, articulated with the municipal administration, seeks to improve the conditions of vulnerability vis-à-vis the Afro-Colombian population”, says Mareila Burgos, territorial director of the Victims Unit in Córdoba.
The municipal administration will verify that the beneficiaries with productive potential are on the census list and have the land to carry out the agricultural project without the need to expand the agricultural frontier.
