With a forum on ‘Reflections for peace-building and dignity from the South of the country’, the city of Pasto concluded the so-called ‘Fair for the peasant dignity’, where the communities of San José de Albán, La Esmeralda, La Cruz, and El Palmar participated.
The meeting took place in La Casona Taminango, where Martha Luz Amorocho, Soraya Bayuelo, Jayer Rosero, and Luis Ramiro Muñoz shared their experiences as victims of the internal armed conflict.
Paula Gaviria Betancur, head director of the Victims Unit, said that ‘the South of Colombia is telling the country that these peasant have a clear opinión on their identity and their peasant dignity. The armed conflict may have hurt you, but did not take from you your strength and abilities to produce, and give us food, to work the land.’
As well as the Victims Unit, the International Organization for Migration, USAID, the Governorate of Nariño, and the Mayor’s Office of Pasto supported the encounter.
