Peace and collective reparation in Riachuelo

People in the small lane of Riachuelo, in the municipality of Charalá (Santander department) live in a better environment today. The willingness to overcome the armed conflict can be understood from the testimonies of the people participating in the strategy of emotional recovery –called ‘Entrelazando’-, the members of the committee that promotes collective reparation, and the presidents of the ‘juntas de acción comunal’.

‘We are happy to see that the group of people involved in the committee and the so-called ‘tejedores’ [participants in the community rehabilitation strategy ‘Entrelazando’] got bigger, and people are more committed. We are stepping forward,’ said Luis Alfonso Aparicio, Victims Unit’s territorial director in Santander department.

Nineteen leaders participated in the event, and acknowledged the importance of the collective reparation process, since it is aimed to repair the damages suffered within the framework of the internal armed conflict. One of the agreements achieved in the meeting had to do with the stages that follow in relation to the collective reparation route.
