Unit reiterates commitments with Buenaventura community, represented in the Civic Strike Committee
The Victims Unit participated in the presentation of the report of the accidental commission, in the eighth session of the Follow-up Commission to the agreement of the Buenaventura Civic Strike “To live with dignity and peace in the territory”.
The general director of the Unit for the Attention and Comprehensive Reparation of Victims, Ramón Alberto Rodríguez Andrade, reiterated his commitment to the Buenaventura community, represented by the Executive Committee of the Buenaventura Civic Strike “To live with dignity and peace in the territory”, To continue advancing in the adequate follow-up and full and effective fulfillment of the commitments of the Access to Justice, Victims, Protection and Memory Table.
"These types of spaces are given, aware of the importance of generating and promoting scenarios of construction and permanent participation", said the official.
At the meeting, which was attended by delegates from the Government ministries that make up the Commission according to Decree 1402 of 2017, as well as the Episcopal Conference of Colombia, led by Monsignor Héctor Fabio Henao Gaviria, guarantors of the Attorney General's Office, the Ombudsman's Office and Regional Ombudsman of Buenaventura, Delegate of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, among others, "were invited to continue joining forces, continue in this exercise of dialogue and advance from difference".
The Buenaventura Civic Strike began on May 16, 2017, with 288 initial commitments, currently with 188 prioritized commitments, of which 38 commitments were concluded and unified within the framework of the Shock Plan.
In the Table of Access to Justice, Victims, Protection and Memory, whose technical secretariat is exercised by the Victims Unit, to achieve these advances three technical working tables were held (July 10, 13 and 16) of route coordination criticism, which had the participation of national-level entities such as: Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Justice, Land Restitution Unit, National Protection Unit, National Historical Memory Center, Buenaventura Mayor's Office, as well as the participation and accompaniment of guarantors of the process as Attorney General, Provincial and Regional Attorney of Buenaventura, Regional Ombudsman's Office, MAPP OEA, UN Human Rights, delegate of the office of Senator Alexander López Maya, and CODHES.
In the area of the Monitoring Commission, the Executive Committee of the Civic Strike stands out that, of the nine monitoring tables, the only table with a Shock Plan - Critical Path is the Table for Access to Justice, Victims, Protection and Memory.
