The Córdoba Victims Unit joined the thousands of voices that pay tribute to the people who have been victims of armed conflict in the country, with the delivery of the monument "Reconciliation" by the Municipal Table for Effective Participation of the Victims of Montería.

The activity was carried out at the Regional Center for Comprehensive Attention and Reparation to the victims of the municipality (where the monument is located) and is allusive to the construction of memory and history, which fulfills the route that leads them to the reconciliation.

The local memory initiative was built collectively within the framework of support groups, recognizing that symbols are the non-verbal representation of the experiences of those who suffered from the armed conflict, these being fundamental elements for the construction of memory from the individual and the collective, facilitating their emotional healing process.

The Afro-descendant leader María Clemencia García explained the objective of the Monument as a measure of satisfaction, framed in Law 1448 of 2011 and socialized in this exercise the meaning that the MMPEV gave it: * Tree: protection, care for others, life, growth, resilience, strength, peasant identity (ancestors). Rock: strength, resistance, sustainability. Water: tranquility, the essence of the human being, purity.

Jorge Mario Galofre, representative of Montería, congratulated the Participation Table for the work led in favor of defending the rights of victims and reiterated that they are an example of resilience for the country.

On the other hand, Gustavo Copete, a member of the victims' participation table, explained that the Monument also pays tribute to the memory of Gregorio López Villegas, who was a human rights defender and member of the municipal table.

This symbolic act was also attended by: the municipal government secretary, the international cooperating organization Blumont, the municipal representative, and social and victim leaders.
