Bolívar Ombudsmen get ready for election of victim tables

From 20 August to 10 September, the members of the tables of municipal victims will be elected, the representatives will exercise technical secretariat functions and will have the responsibility of convening and installing them.

Every two years, victims choose their representatives at the tables of effective participation. The first stage of process was carried out from January 1st to March 31st, with the registration of the organizations and continues in the months of August and September, with the election of  members of the table.

The representatives will exercise the Technical Secretariat in the process and will guarantee the convocation. "It is important that the representatives update themselves in the participation protocol and continue accompanying the members of tables that will be elected soon", said the territorial director of the Victims Unit in Bolívar and San Andrés, Miledy Galeano Paz.

After the tables are elected, they will be responsible for supporting the preparation of Territorial Action Plans, citing the meetings of the tables and carrying out accountability and citizen oversight exercises in the execution of resources.

During the training session held in Cartagena and led by the Victims Unit, 18 representatives from the municipalities of northern zone, Montes de María and the south department, highlighted the importance of these training spaces.

"They are of vital importance to strengthen knowledge as leaders of process in the municipalities," said Ronal Zabaleta Bandera, representative of Altos del Rosario municipality.

"The training allows us to clarify doubts and be able to adequately inform victim organizations or, failing that, organizations that defend victims", ​​said Meredith Padilla Lozano, person in Barranco de Loba.

"Excellent, it gives us the opportunity to refresh knowledge. In the municipality seven organizations would be presented and the process has been carried out successfully, "said Maolys González, Montecristo official.

The municipal tables will be shaped taking into account differential approaches (women, LGTBI, youth, elderly, victims in disability status, indigenous communities, Afro, rrom) and victimizing facts (forced displacement, sexual violence, acts against physical integrity, life and freedom).
