Unit socializes returns process in Génova, Quindío

The Unit in the returns and relocations component socialized with the Genoa victim community the content of Resolution 03320 on the returns protocol and reviewed the actions of the formulated plan.

The professionals of the Victims Unit traveled to "the beautiful place", Génova, in order to meet with the members of the municipal table of victims of the town, victims returned to the territory, officials of the municipal administration headed by the mayor Jorge Iván Osorio and delegates of the municipal authority, to socialize all the issues regarding returns and relocations.

The main objective of the day was to define the actions for the coordination, planning, monitoring and control, for the accompaniment of people and communities victims of forced displacement who express their intention to return, relocate or integrate locally, which is executed in coordination with the entities of the National System of Attention and Integral Reparation to the Victims and under the principles of security, dignity and voluntariness.

"From the Unit we do a very important accompaniment work for the families that return, always aiming in two main directions: overcoming the situation of vulnerability and community integration, to achieve territorial roots", commented on the particular Laura Moreno, territorial director of the entity in the Coffee Region.

"This as a guarantee for their permanence in the town where they have decided to stay indefinitely, we are returning little by little to the municipalities despite the risks of COVID; with all the biosafety protocols and always taking care of both the officials and the population”,noted the director.

This accompaniment is carried out by the Unit through three operational routes. The first of them individual, another of accompaniment to communities made up of groups of up to 10 households or 50 people who are victims of displacement and the last one of emergency returns.

Within the same framework of the returns and relocations component, the Genova municipal administration presented to the Unit the letter of intent to materialize the project for the provision of recreational material for the House of Culture, an initiative that will benefit the returned population and that at this moment it is undergoing technical review by the Unit.

Uziel Torres Sánchez, one of the victims who attended the event, concluded on the subject: “The event and the topics were very good, this helps us a lot to be able to be informed about the projects and processes that are being carried out by of the Unit in the municipality, now what we must do is be able to continue working as a team to get things done".
