New beginning for 12 families of Caloto: the rebirth after the war
The Victims Unit in Cauca, through the program of returns and relocations, made accompaniment to achieve the right to relocate twelve families victims of forced displacement in the villages of Vergel and Pedregal of the municipality of Caloto (Cauca).
This new beginning will be in the municipality of Toro, Valle del Cauca, where about 50 people will be able to start a new life that will allow them to leave behind the constant attacks and violent acts, of which they were victims by illegal armed groups, and that caused their displacement.
The Victims Unit has been accompanying the households in their relocation process. Today, these families acquire a lot from the National Land Agency, which will allow them to start a productive project that from their environment makes it possible to contribute to the development of their community.
For Dan Harry Sanchez Cobo, Territorial Director Cauca, "from the delivery of the property La Floresta, municipality of Toro, a process of construction of relocation plan for the 12 families of Vergel must be initiated, which will allow grouping the institutional offer around these families and in that way to be able to advance in their repair in an integral way ".
Adriana María Ulcué, one of the beneficiary victims, pointed out that "for us it is very important, because it is a new beginning as productive people, for that we thank the Victims Unit that has had the accompaniment and has given us the support with other entities throughout this process".
In this way, the contribution from the National Government is strengthened, in the comprehensive attention and reparation of victims throughout the country.
